The new “7″ restaurant opened in the old Schmokies Smokehouse in Wyndhurst last Friday, October 23rd. The name “7 restaurant” pays tribute to the famous number 7′s of sports, including co-owner Andre Kendrik’s former Hokie teammate Michael Vick. A former Virginia Tech and E.C. Glass football standout, Lynchburg native Kendrik’s partner in this venture is Marcus Revely, owner of Cravin’s restaurant in downtown Lynchburg.

The restaurant includes a bar, big-screen televisions for sports viewing and a collection of sports memorabilia, including Kendrick’s game-worn Hokies jersey from the 2000 Sugar Bowl national championship game and a Braylon Edwards-signed Cleveland Browns jersey.

We stopped by there to see what all the fuss was about. It was a ghost town. And the food was nothing to write home about. My wings were dry and tiny and my friends burger had to be sent back twice to get tit right. If I want bad food I can eat that right here in Lburg, not drive out to Wyndhurst for it. Plus the place had a kinda negative vibe from some of the other customers. I would not go back.

In reply to Gena, I’m sure that with your negative attitude, the Restaurant would be better off without people such as yourself. I think that you all should give these young men a chance and then make your remarks. For they are trying to take care of themselves and their families. I say leave them alone and let them build their lives. If you and the other people that are criticizing them would spend 50% of your time minding your business and 50% of your time leaving their business alone, 100% of your time would be left to you to concentrate on your life. Think about it

Wow…you must have a personal interest in the restaurant, especially since you capitalized “restaurant” in your post. It is not the Restaurant. It is a restaurant. They may be trying but obviously are failing. Trying means nothing, either do or do not, don’t try. If their restaurant sucks then no one will come, if it is good then people will. Simple as that. If they are a legit business then they welcome criticism so they can better their business.

The location is nice and the food was good. This is a new business that will be struggling to survive like any other. Many people in Lynchburg are divided on the whole Mike Vick issue and there have been several racist comments about the owners in town. The “negative vibe” is most likely prejudice. The Team at 7 should be given a chance to get things right. Let us afford them that chance.

Thanks for the input on the food Rachel. Would be interested if you, and others, would give us a more in-depth analysis of what you ate, etc.

      Thanks for your comments!

Vick is the bomb boy! I’ve followed him since Va. Tech days! I’m currently an Eagles fan because of Vick! If he goes somewhere else next year, I’ll be a fan of that team! You so called Christians are so hypocritical! That’s why so many turn against religion! What about forgiveness? I’d hate to know how many of the hater’s have done things in their past they wouldn’t want to get caught at doing!!!!!!! He paid for his crime, time to move on, learn from it and make a much better person out of someone! Get a freakin grip and ROCK THAT FIELD VICK LIKE YOU’VE ALWAYS DONE! YOU ARE STILL NUMBER ONE IN MY BOOK JUST DON’T PROVE ME WRONG!
