The Awareness Garden was established at the Ed Page entrance to the James River Heritage Trail and dedicated on September 6, 2003. The garden honors the families, friends and caregivers whose lives have been touched by cancer.
Our Mission:
- To support, maintain, and enhance the “Awareness Garden.”
- To provide a tangible, special place for people to reflect on the courage, dignity, and hope of those who are battling cancer, those who have overcome cancer and to honor those who valiantly fought.
- To develop and maintain an endowment fund:
- to fund scholarships for those affected by cancer or interested in cancer-related work
- to foster cancer awareness with educational outreach programs throughout the community.
This garden has been established through the generosity of many caring people and will be maintained by donors, community volunteers, and our endowment, together with the cooperation and support of the City of Lynchburg.
Enjoy the garden and join us in planting the seeds of awareness!
